An in person presentation by Brian Davies

An illustrated talk using slides of surviving and many old and now demolished winding engines. The talk will be in three sections – first a survey of the steam winding engines that survived into the 1960s, illustrated by photos that Brian took then. Some of them on a tour with George Watkins; then a survey of the engines that survive; and finally he will detail some of the restoration work on the 1875 Barker & Cope engine at the Great Western Colliery near Pontypridd.
