Vaughan Pomeroy

Vaughan Pomeroy began his engineering career with a major aircraft manufacturer, British Aircraft Corporation at Weybridge. He then worked with an international practice of consulting engineers, Mott, Hay and Anderson, on the design and construction of infrastructure projects including tunnels, water supply and irrigation schemes, power generation and distribution and building services.

He then spent over thirty years until June 2010 with Lloyd’s Register, ultimately as the Marine Technical Director responsible for the technical policy of the marine business of that classification society. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Southampton since 2004. He continues to work with the University of Southampton to facilitate links between industry and the research community, whilst doing some teaching and personal research.

He was appointed a Visiting Professor at the College of Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore during 2011. He was the independent member of the Safety Improvement Advisory Group of the UK Civil Aviation Authority. He is an engineering graduate of the University of Cambridge, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow and Honorary Vice President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.

He is registered with FEANI as a European Engineer and with the Engineering Council UK as a Chartered Engineer. He is a Life Patron of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
