You have arrived at the new Newcomen website. A portal for the Newcomen membership that enables unparalleled access to The International Journal For The History of Engineering and its archive – a comprehensive set of articles published on a wide range of engineering subjects since 1920.

We hope you enjoy the enriched experience and welcome comment from members on the new features that the website now offers. Much of these new features have been developed in response to feedback from the members.

The website is now built using responsive web design, making it very easy to use on all mobile, tablet and desktop formats.

Previous popular features available to members are now streamlined and offer a more user friendly experience.  These include:

• International Journal For the History of Engineering  and Archive
• Newcomen Links quarterly publication and Archive
• Events Calendar featuring a UK wide programme covering a wide range of topics

In addition to the above we have also added  new features including:

• Membership Community Section
  Requested by multiple members in recent years, this Community Section allows members to search for other members by name, city, country and listed interests. Please note this directory of members is only available to the Newcomen Membership and for privacy, no member’s details have been included in this community section by default. We would however appreciate, if each member could login and add their details via their Member Dashboard over the coming weeks, to enable the free-flow of discussion and ideas throughout the Society’s membership.
• Website Store
  Various books, Journal publications plus merchandise are now available to buy via the website’s new online store. Over the coming month we’re look to include many of the past Journals to the online store so please do come back to visit regularly as the store’s inventory is expanded. PLEASE NOTE: at the moment we are still completing on integration of the shop’s payment system which we hope to resolve in the very near future.
• My Newcomen
  All member-only features on the website are now accessible via the My Newcomen section which can be found on the website’s main menu when logged in. Here, easy access to the Member’s Dashboard, Community Section, Society’s Business Reports and the improved Research Sources areas.
• Home Page Carousel
  An image carousel has been added to the home page to highlight upcoming and current items of interest when first visiting the website. This includes upcoming events, features from Newcomen Links and items from website’s store etc.
• Website Administration
  There is much improved “under the bonnet” too with simplified data input for the Society’s administration team.
• Site Security
  The website’s security has been reviewed and tightened up. It currently scores an A+ on SSL Security tests and is being regularly monitored.
