Matt Thompson

Matt Thompson is Director of Collections & Learning at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust. He began his career in archaeology before migrating to the museum sector in the late 1990s. Matt has worked in a variety of museums, small and large, public sector and independent but has maintained a professional interest in transport history throughout. His doctoral research was based around the use of landscape imagery in railway advertising. His current research interests include mobility in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and the potential applications of palliative curation in the historic environment.
