The Newcomen Society is the world's oldest learned society devoted to the study of the history of engineering and technology.
The Society is based in London and is concerned with all branches of engineering: civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, aeronautical, marine, chemical and manufacturing.
Original research papers are given at regular evening meetings held at the Science Museum in London; these papers are subsequently published in the Transactions of the Newcomen Society. Our Transactions form an extensive archive with a strong academic foundation. This archive is now available on line.
Our five branches hold evening meetings, at regional centres. We also organise conferences and visits to places of interest in the UK and abroad.
All are most welcome to apply for membership.
